A university-sponsored study came out with an animated graphic that is supposed to serve as an indicator of which brain hemisphere is most dominant in a person at a given time.

If you haven’t seen this before, this should be very interesting to you.

Check out the spinning lady below. Is it spinning clockwise or counter-clockwise?

How you see it spinning is supposed to tell you if you are a right or left brain hemisphere type of person.

Clockwise spin

Right-brain hemisphere dominant

emotional

images

arts

acts on hunches

etc.

Counterclockwise spin

Left-brain hemisphere dominant

logical

language

mathematics

acts on facts

etc.

Personally, the default spin I noticed is clockwise, which is not suprising because I always thought of myself as a right-brain hemisphere dominant person. I love aesthetics, the arts, music, although I’m not bad at algebra and logic either.

On experimentation, I noticed I can change the spin at will using a few tricks. I change the spin to counter-clockwise by staring for a while at the upper-rightmost corner of the picture. If this does not work, I look at the upper-rightmost corner and quickly slide my gaze downwards to the bottom-rightmost corner, then stay there until I’ve fixed the spinning. Focusing on the feet usually brings back the clockwise spin.

Take advantage of the advances made by researches and experimentations conducted by Self Help NLP. It makes sense not to reinvent the wheel and just take the short cut to the results you want.

Knowing the power of Brainwave Entrainment, you are left with two choices:

Create your own Brainwave Entrainment sounds.

Take advantage of professionally crafted and tested Brainwave Entrainment Sound Products.

If you have an aptitude for sound editting and creation, you can, with the help of the right sound editting software, make your own tailor-made brainwave entrainment sound files. The basic technology is presented in several articles within this site. There are even a few posts which lay out the step by step procedures for creating your own brainwave entrainment sound files.

If you prefer not to exert the required effort and experimentation to create self-made brainwave entrainment files however, there are a lot of products available in the market, one of which is the SelfHelp NLP product series. SelfHelp NLP has been in the brainwave entrainment field for quite a time and had continually improved their products based on feedback from customers as well as from their never-ending experimentations in their laboratory.

SelfHelp NLP offers the ‘Change Your Mind Change Your Life’ MP3 Downloads. Its main author, Paul Holzberger, has this to say about the products that he personally hand-crafted:

“All of our Change Your Mind Change Your Life® brainwave entrainment sessions are unique and designed by us. We personally test out every single session we create to ensure quality and that the benefits they are designed to bring really works well. My team and I personally use a number of our sessions on a daily basis and we really enjoy them! We have designed these sessions to help people and we want everyone to enjoy the benefits that they can bring. We receive a lot of positive feedback from people who are just amazed at how great and easy using our MP3 downloads are.”

“Change your thoughts and you change your world” Norman Vincent Peale

This impressive range of Change Your Mind Change Your Life® self help series, work by creating rhythms that take the brain through various levels to produce the perfect desired effect. To ensure the validity of the sessions, several people, both laymen and professionals, have spent time testing and re-testing these sessions. Both brainwave entrainment technology and NLP (e.g. the applicatin of audible suggestions), are most of the time merged into one, in order to stimulate the brain and thus focusing the mind and body to help with the desired effect. The amazing positive effects enjoyed by those who have taken part in the perfection of SelfHelp NLP products can also be yours.

A trick to aid one in visualization exercises, especially for those who are more tactile than visual oriented.

In my meditation community, we have exercises that mostly make us focus on the third eye. I find myself to be more of a tactile person than a visual one. Thus when it comes to visualization exercises during meditation I get more sensations than visuals. When we are supposed to visualize a ball of light on our third eye, I do imagine it there but I tend to imagine more the feeling of (than seeing) a ball of light attached there and blazing bright.

I know I’m doing it right when I feel a pressure in the area concerned. Since, like I said, visualization is not my forte, I sometimes find it hard to initiate the sensations on my forehead at the beginning of the meditation exercise. So I deviced a trick to initiate the sensations of pressure on the third eye area by imagining a pencil embedded there, one end extending about an inch inside and the rest extending outward. Then I imagine a piece of paper out front near enough to touch the tip of the pencil. Then I start to move my head slightly as I imagine I am writing on it. I write the numbers 1 to 9. Then I repeatedly write the number 8. Usually, by the time I reach number 7, the sensation of pressure begins. Repetition of the number 8 makes it more pronounced.

When the sensation is considerable enough, I let go of the pencil and begin visualization and the rest of the meditation exercises. I sometimes use this same trick for the crown area. I can quickly initiate the prickly sensations up there with this. Then focusing on these specific areas become easier. The pressure sensation aid me a lot in my visualization skills.

(Note: This can be extended into focusing inside (the middle of the) head. This is also reminiscent of Slade’s technique of tickling the amygdala with a feather.)

Odd Tip: How To Stop A Sneeze. A simple, subtle and proven effective method to stop a sneeze from exploding.

A sneeze occurs when an irritant in the nose causes the sensors in the nose to send a message to the sneeze control center in the brain for action to remove the irritation. The brain then immediately sends a command to all organs responsible for a successful sneeze including the abdominal muscles, the chest muscles, etc. It even commands the eyes to close for a moment while the sneeze explodes.

A sneeze is a sign of forthcoming colds. When you have to sneeze, you ought to release it and sneeze it out. There are times however when a sneeze is out of place e.g., when you are in church, when you are in a company of other people and you have no hanky within reach, etc. You need to stifle a sneeze while it is still in its early stages, that is, even before it starts to blow. Stifling it anytime later would be unhealthy as the pressure would not be comfortable for the other neighboring organs. Here’s a proven and really effective method that is based on accupressure. Try it as soon as you notice the early signs of an oncoming sneeze. You’ll be surprised how effective it is.

Notice that part of your face between the nose and the mouth? It’s called the ‘philtrum’. The two ridges are called the philtral columns and the groove is called the philtral dimple. Physignomists (Physignomy = face reading) has this to say about the philtrum. If it is long, deep and clearly marked, it implies strong vitality and healthy energy levels . Philtrums which are not very pronounced sometimes characterize low levels of life force energy.

Alright, here’s how to stop a sneeze before it blows up. With your hand or fist under your chin, extend your index finger or thumb, whichever feels more comfortable for you, and press down on the philtral dimple. Put just enough pressure such that you can feel the contour of the teeth or gum underneath. Again, this has to be done as soon as you feel a forthcoming sneeze, not later. Keep pressing until the symptoms of the sneeze disappear.

Subconscious mind power is best understood in its simplest terms. Most modern media resources today makes some simple things overly complicated because they pounce on people's belief that the more complicated a thing is the more valuable or costlier it is, thus justifying the price of their expensive wares for sale.

Subconscious mind power is one power that is accessible to everyone you may fear “what if it falls in the wrong hands“? Know better what it is and how you can put it to proper use.

What is the subconscious?

The mind has 3 parts. They are:

The Conscious - this is the regular mind that we are generally familiar with. This the mind that controls our voluntary actions like moving the mouse and clicking on a link. If you are familiar with mind state classifications, this is the ‘beta’ mind. This is the mind that thinks.

The Subconscious - This is the mind that allows us to function on a lot of levels without the need to consciously think of doing them. This is the mind that allows one to walk normally while talking unto a cellphone or to continue breathing even while asleep; the mind that controls autonomic and non-voluntary actions. Subconscious mind power, by virtue of this alone is already amazing. The subconscious is the mind that is accessed in the alpha/theta/delta stages. It follows and executes the commands of the conscious mind, the commands usually being in the form of images and emotions. It executes the commands without any moral filter. That is, whether the outcome be good or bad, it executes without question. This is the basis for subconscious mind power. The subconscious is also the bridge between the conscious and the superconscious minds.

The Superconscious - This mind is given many names. It is called the universal mind, the unconscious mind, the God mind, the infinite intelligence. It is the one mind which knows everything and to which all minds are connected. It is the ‘nuclear reactor’ of the subconscious mind power.

Subconscious mind power

As defined above, the subconscious mind executes the commands of the conscious mind without question. It attracts the things and conditions or situations that are desired by the conscious mind. It is a magnet that attracts circumstances that resonate or vibrate with the beliefs embedded in itself by the conscious mind. This subconscious mind power is the heart of the much publicized law of attraction. It is so efficient in its function Napoleon Hill was lead to declare “what the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve”.

Thus, subconscious mind power is limited only by what one can believe is achievable.

Bob Proctor, one of the proponents of the Law of Attraction, begins by asking “What do you really want?“. Common responses to this question are the following:

Realize your dream love life

Succeed in Career and Business

Improve Your Finances

Eliminate Stress

Eliminate the habit of worrying

Release Negative Feelings

Develop Self Confidence

Enjoy the best of good Health

Boost Your Creativity

Create or Improve Relationships

Create conditions or situations you desire

Take Control of Your Life

Psychologists and sociologists would sum the desires of the average man into 4 major areas. The average person wants to enjoy:

“Money is usually attracted, not pursued.” – Jim Rohn

Wealth

Health

Love

Being in control / Peace of mind

But the pursuit of these things can still be summed up into one ultimate goal:

To feel good

And all these are achievable through the proper use of subconscious mind power.

Common methods for the proper use of subconscious mind power

These methods have been laid out before and appear in almost all records that has anything to do with subconscious mind power. Desires can be manifested by using the following tools:

visualization

emotion

affirmation

action

Visualizing or imagining a desired outcome coupled with the appropriate emotion is a step towards manifesting it. Persevering to repeat this multiple times leads to finally achieving it. This also holds true for the affirmation technique. Note that an affirmation normally means a word or a phrase that is meant to be repeated over and over until the desire is achieved. The repetition of a visualization/emotion set is also an affirmation, a wordless form of affirmation. A worded form of affirmation, by the way, is worthless when no emotion, or effort to believe, is attached to it.

“Silva is world re-knowned because their system takes you beyond the basics of subconscious mind power. They’ll get you there quickly.”

These techniques are most effective when done while in a state below normal waking consciousness. Experts call the the normal waking state the beta state. States below this are the alpha, theta and delta states – the states of light relaxation down to deep sleep. In these states, the practice of visualization/affirmation is sometimes referred as self-hypnosis. And subconscious mind power is evoked a lot easier and responds quicker at these levels of mind.

Finally, one has to take the steps or actions that will lead to the achievement of one’s goals. The steps are either already known or are communicated by the subconscious in the form of a hunch or an urge. The attitude of expecting progress in one’s affirmation work is a very effective way of invoking these hunches or urges.

Impediments to the proper use of subconscious mind power

So, why am I still not manifesting my dream car?

Inability to persevere – Most of us seek instant gratification. We try the affirmation techniques, but after three days of trying we give up because we think it is not working inasmuch as we are not seeing the results. We conclude immediately that subconscious mind power is a haux. One young man who desired to reunite with his girlfriend who is working in another continent had to work on his daily affirmations for 9 months before it was achieved. A lady who desired to find the buyer for her property who will take her rather expensive price needed only 2 weeks of affirmation exercises.

Negative and limiting beliefs – We have, through the years, accumulated some unhelpful beliefs, thanks to multimedia technology (e.g. tv news & commercials, print ads, the internet). People surrounding us have also influenced us to a large extent by allowing the osmosis of their own beliefs into our minds. The weird thing about all these is that there are a lot of unhelpful beliefs that we ourselves are not very much aware of. Thus, the removal or countering of these unhelpful, limiting beliefs, whether we are aware or not, is of utmost priority before we can expect any subconscious mind power work to quickly succeed.

Law of karma - It is the great equalizer. Nothing is really free. Whatever you have right now is something you earned and deserved, or will pay later. Affirming and visualizing about something and taking action towards getting it, and persevering on it, will without doubt lead you to eventually get it. A thief who stole a million dollars will one day (in this or another lifetime) loss a million dollars. In a particular lifetime, he visualizes, emotes, affirms and takes action for prosperity. With a clean slate, he might have achieved this in a short time. But since he has a debt to pay, the effort to visualize and affirm may be considered a form of payment. The positive energy he generated may have been diverted to the party he stole from before. Until he has paid in full, he will not get much result for himself for his efforts. Of course, this model is oversimplified. The law of karma may be a lot more complicated than this. How else do you explain a poor person who suddenly wins hugely in a lottery, enjoys squandering for a few months, then goes back to begging after all his money are gone? Or, how do you explain the condition of one who was born deformed and miserable? One’s karma debts are paid much like the way one’s bank loans are paid. One either dutifully pays it according to the set amortization schedule, or the bank enforces it’s collection through court approved foreclosure at a set time. In the same way, a person who owes no debt can enjoy all his money now or deposit some of it into his bank account for his future enjoyment.

Conclusion

Subconscious mind power is real, whether you believe it or not, much like gravity is real and enforced, whether you are aware of it or not. Knowing its enormous power, we must from now on be careful what we feed it. Worrying over anything for longer than necessary will feed it those ideas and it will dutifully bring more of it to you. If you must solve a problem that’s causing you misery, try to dissociate or detach the feelings from it and solve it objectively. After all, worrying and feeling miserable doesn’t help you solve it. It makes it even worse. It’s funny how everyone knows this fact and yet continues to do it. Like smoking. Every smoker knows what smoking is doing to his lungs, but he stupidly continues smoking.

The power of appreciation can effectively turn your day around from miserable to ecstatic in 17 seconds. It takes discernment and effort at the start, like any skill you develop.

The power of appreciation plays a big part in my preaching about the need to feel good at all times. You can refer to some articles I’ve written in this site as well as in ezinearticles. In it I extol the virtues of feeling good and why it is a necessity if you want to live life to the fullest no matter what state you are in right now. I would even venture to say that to feel good is a responsibility… you owe it to yourself to make your self feel good. Choosing not to is an irresponsible act.

Now there’s one thing very much related and ingrained with the feeling of goodness. And it is the power of appreciation. Whatever your situation is right now, you always have choices. Even in situations where you have no other option, internally you always have two choices. To feel bad or to feel good about it. In real life, you might say, there sometimes are instances where there is no reason whatsoever to feel good. Yes, but you still have a choice to either feel really bad (knowing that feeling bad brings you nowhere and only invites more of the feeling) or not. You can always acknowledge the reason for feeling bad, but you don’t have to dwell on it. If there is a reason to feel wrathful, acknowledge the reason to be so angry about, but don’t dwell and prolong the angry feeling. When you are angry, your logical thinking is impaired and there is a tendency to do something stupid which you are bound to regret later. Just look back at the times you have acted on impulse while you are angry. It seemed satisfying at the moment, but really stupid when you think back about it later. Go ahead, feel anger, but then try to cool down and let the anger die down, then think how to resolve the situation. Forget about your psychiatrist’s advice “not to stifle but let the rage burst out to its fullness”. Yes, this is one case that is easier said than done. It takes discipline and lots of effort (especially at the start). Know that you have an option… and it is to find something that you can appreciate in the present situation. When you are able to find a reason to appreciate, no matter how seemingly insignificant it may be, you have found the doorway to feeling good inspite of the engulfing circumstances. The power of appreciation is within your grasp.

Your boss gives you a lashing. I definitely know how this feels. Just bringing one up in mind still effectively makes me bristle in rage and disappointment. Where does the power of appreciation come in here? What is there to appreciate in this situation? One, you have a job! Remember how difficult it is these days to find a job? Try as much as possible to replace the picture of your snarling boss with the picture of you receiving your pay, while several unfortunate souls out there are still struggling to search for a decent job. Had you been one of those unfortunate ones, you would right now be probably saying “Lord, just give me a job. I don’t care even if the boss is a monster”. Hold on to this picture of yourself receiving your pay and being thankful for at least 17 seconds. This 17-second “combustion period” was first preached by Abraham and Esther in their ‘Deliberate Creation’ material. That’s the minimum amount of time for a thought to take hold and take effect. If you can, take it further for another 17 seconds longer. Feel appreciation and gratitude at least within this period. And see what the power of appreciation can do to you.

In most cases, the ‘first times’ are always difficult. However, once you get through the initial stage, you’ll feel a certain power within, because you can control your emotions now. Imagine the surprise (and probably envy) of your co-employees when they see you genuinely smiling and humming a song as you sit back down and proceed with your work after the boss has given you a ‘pile-driver’ talk. You go ahead with a really good day, while your boss scowls miserably throughout the day. Your friends will be asking you to teach them your ‘power of appreciation’ trick.

There is no limit to the power of appreciation. You can take it further by finding something to appreciate about your monster boss himself. He maybe a monster of a boss, but he is an angel-of-a-father to his children. He resembles your own father in this respect. You appreciate your father for being so loving to his children. Now, appreciate your boss for being so loving to his children. Feeling better yet? Find another aspect to appreciate. His wife, his way of dressing, his fondness for smiley buttons, etc. For the power of appreciation, as they say, the possibilites are endless. You can in fact appreciate everything. Remember, the main purpose of the power of appreciation is to make you feel good. If you can appreciate everything, the power of appreciation will fill all the voids leaving no more space for miserable feelings to stick to.

On a regular day, you wake up as usual in the morning, feeling neither bad nor good. Remember what I always say? To make yourself feel good at all times is now a responsibility. How do you initiate the feeling? Pause for a moment and find something to appreciate. Then go ahead, let it kick off and blaze through your day feeling good. Anytime you need extra umph, just push the power of appreciation button.

Yes, this is just a play of thoughts and emotions. But you playing (thus, the one in control) with appreciative thoughts and emotions is definitely better than allowing the unhealthy feelings of misery playing and taking control of you. Who would you want to have total control? Take the power of appreciation and take control.

effective affirmation

'Affirmations' works. It takes patience though, and the right methods for you. Don't give up on affirmations yet. You just might stumble on the right effective methods that will work for you.

Ever since I got introduced to affirmations, I have used it on and off through the years. Why on and off? Because I have found that not all the “effective affimation methods” people are advocating are effective. In other words, through the years, I have been experimenting and looking for the affirmation methods and techniques that work. You may have applied some methods that you have read somewhere. Did it work for you? Another peculiarity about affirmations is that some methods which are effective for you may not necessarily be effective for another.

I have found my effective affirmation techniques after years of on an off trial and error experimentation. You understand of course that when some things that you believe should work fails, you will naturally feel discouraged and may cause you to lay off it for a while. That’s exactly what happened to me. But since I have this persistent belief that it should work, I keep coming back to it to try another affirmation technique.

I have found the following to work for me. These are also confirmed by some websites I have surfed through in the past. I have tried to give these concepts high-falutin names to make them sound professional. Forget about these labels though, they’re just for presentational purposes only. Just know that the ideas behind them work.

Present Tense and Positive. This is basic to all effective affirmation techniques since the time of Coue. Thus, “I prefer feeling good in my healthiest weight”. “Everyday in every way, I am getting better, better and better”.

Embedded Emotion. Embed an emotion into the affirmation and feel it as you say it. Most if not all material I have read about affirmations stress this point. This is in fact the key to effective affirmations. Imagine seing yourself in your perfect weight and form and feeling really good as you danced with a hot girl. “I prefer feeling this good in my best form.”

Associative Focus. You find it difficult to imagine yourself skinny. You find it difficult to believe seeing yourself skinny. Start out with this: Affirmation: “I choose to feel really good in my best shape.” Instead of imagining yourself, imagine others. While repeating your affirmation, imagine looking down and seeing other skinny friends struggling to climb up the slope below you. Then look beside you to see a skinny girl climbing along side at the same fast pace you’re doing, smiling at you as she glances at you every now and then. Try not to bring your attention to yourself. Just feel good but keep your focus on imagining the others. Do not even think of any particular weight. The idea here is to focus on imagining a scenario in which you are part of, and in which you feel really good.A complement to associative focus is to imagine yourself just a few pounds lighter. If imagining yourself at 150 kilograms when you are 250 kilograms right now seems impossible, just imagine how you look and feel at 220 kilograms. Calibrate yourself. If visualizing the scale hitting 220 kilograms is not so difficult to believe, stick with that image.

Continuity-Associated Recall. You see all those commercial billboards advertising products with catchy lines. After a few months of being exposed to these, you sort of become blind to it, though of course the picture has already been filed in you mind. One day, you noticed that the picture in the billboard has changed but still advertising the same product. The moment you notice this change, a mechanism in your mind automatically brings up the previous picture you have gotten used to before unto your conscious mind. Sometimes, as you drive on, you find yourself, at the back of your mind, comparing the old and new images. Sometimes I have this motivation to tell companies that still don’t know this to have their billboards permanently advertise one product in a particular place forever, but change its style and images once a year. This way, people will remember all the images and even know without looking that your ad is there. These days, you often find a product advertised on a bill board for 6 months or a year. Afterwards, an entirely different product from a different company takes its place, and so on. The image implanted in people’s minds likewise fade away for lack of continuity.Applied to affirmation, create an effective affirmation, say, “I choose to feel good being my perfect weight”.
After 1 month of repeated use of this, change this to “It’s exhilirating to see my 150 kilogram weight on the scale”.
After 1 month, “Yes, being this healthy makes me so proud.”.
Then you can cycle back to the first one. The thing with attempting affirmations is that we give up on one affirmation when we show no immediate improvement. This monthly affirmation-redo technique should in a way address your impatience.

Utilizing the above ideas into my affirmation practice proved to be fruitful. However, I continue trying out additional ideas that may make affirmation work even better and better. Perhaps, if you have effective affirmation techniques that are worth sharing, you can share it here.

NOTE: Affirmations become even more effective when done in the alpha and/or theta states. And this is made easy by the use of brainwave entrainment.
Being cool by not doing anything good or bad (staying neutral) is not as safe as you think it is. You may be subconsciously sabotaging yourself by not actively and intentionally feeling good.

After reading a lot of self help material, appreciating the concepts of some but never really attempting to do them, practicing some for a time but eventually forgetting about them, etc., I finally realized that the bottom line to all these is to feel good. You feel bad because you don’t have enough money to buy your dream car. When you are able to buy your dream car, you feel good. When you won the latest election, your hunger for power and attention is satisfied and you feel good. Actually, this bottom line is something I picked up from my readings, including that ‘law of attraction’ movie, but only recently did I realize how true it was. And the idea to do away with all that I read and instead just strive to feel good is also not new and unique. Allow me to explain why we need to feel good all the time.

Good feelings radiate out to the universe and the universe dutifully arranges circumstances matching these feelings to come back to you. Dwelling on bad feelings means asking for more of it.

The law of action and reaction

In the east, there is a physical/spiritual law they call “The Law of Karmic Return” or “The Law of Karma“. If you think eastern philosophy is crap and too far out, then just stick with the Christian “As you sow, so shall you reap” principle. If this is still hard to swallow, at least believe in the proven law of physics that states “For every action, there is a corresponding reaction”. Personally, I think the law of karma makes sense. There are a lot of reference materials that would best educate you in these matters in the internet. The basic idea is you get good (or bad) karma for every good (or bad) deed you do or give. Again, what you sow, you reap. At this point, you might already have an idea why we need to feel good all the time.

Our target therefore, in order to receive good karma (e.g. getting richer, having satisfactory love life, maintain good health, win elections, etc.), is to do as much positive deeds (tithe, love, smile, etc.)as possible. Most of us don’t get this very well. Instead of actively creating the opportunities to do good deeds or any action that would elicit a good reaction or karma upon ourselves, we just wait for the opportunities to bump into us. So, while there are no opportunities yet and since we don’t want bad things to come to us, we decide to stay neutral. Or so we think.

A regular day

What you think is a regular neutral day for you may not be that neutral at all. Let us assume the following as your typical day.

waking up

you start your day with a frown as you complain silently about having to wake up early.

you subconsciouly ask, Why am i poor? Had I been rich, I wouldn’t have get up to work this early.

“(sigh)…another boring working day.”

commuting/driving to work

still entertaining the above thoughts.

you notice a dirty beggar, and you silently comment “blast these smelly beggars! Why don’t they just…”

at work

you see your “terror” boss getting out of his car. You greet him good morning but some loose portion at the back of your brain is saying “I hope he trips. I’d laugh the loudest.”

a sexy secretary who has legs up to her neck passes by you. Your imagination runs wild.

commuting/driving back home

you feel bad at your boss for holding you a bit longer when he asked you to submit that report asap.

you short circuited your car’s horn as you impatiently urged the car driver in front of you to move. You mentally wished him all sorts

of vehicular accidents. You even imagined his garage roof falling on his car.

at home

you watch the News on TV. The latest murder. Terrorist attacks. Epidemics.

You watch a tv series featuring grizzly murders, treachery, etc.

“Feelings are the causes, conditions are the effects.”

Avail of the FREE 5 part QMP ecourse at Quantum Mind.

Why we need to feel good all the time

That’s a fairly neutral day, you’d probably say. You didn’t hurt anyone enough to warrant bad karma. Remember, however, that your thoughts and emotions are vibrations … are things. You are actually contributing more negative vibrations to the collective vibrations of the day. And all entities that vibrate in the lower spectrum are prone to pickup these negativity and act on it, knowingly or not. Thus you are partially responsible for giving him motivation or impulse to do what he would do later. Your complaint “Why am I poor?…” adds strength to the despair of someone out there who is contemplating suicide because of his/her poverty.

Our attempts at practicing the “Law of Attraction” doesn’t work because our seemingly “neutral” day is actually doing more damage than good. How many minutes do we spend doing the Law of Attraction’s “visualizations and emoting exercises“? 30 minutes? Then we go “neutral” for 16 hours or so of our waking hours, thinking we’re generating neutral karma.

Thinking or entertaining thoughts and emotions that are not beneficial is like standing in the middle of a crowded bus and you haven’t taken a bath for 2 weeks. You don’t do anything bad but everybody is inconvenienced. Feeling good and generating healthy thoughts is like being in the same bus and you are wearing a light and sweet perfume that everybody likes. The actual effect is very subtle but far-reaching.

If we can’t do a really good deed, at least feel good. This way, you’re not ‘neutral’. You’re actually doing a good deed, subtly. And you win on both sides of the equation. That is, you feel good already while doing it (action), and you’ll certainly feel good at the expected karmic return (reaction) for it.

If you haven’t done it yet, I suggest you avail of the FREE 5-part QMP ecourse at Quantum Mind and learn more.

A quick massage routine you can use to relieve stress quickly. If you can't get a full body massage, just do this quick massage on yourself and see.

I have this little quick massage routine exercise to relieve stress that I really never appreciated much until I read something almost like it in some website a few days ago. I discovered it years ago after a little quick massage session my wife gave me. My wife immediately recognizes when I am really stressed when I get home from work. Once I flop into bed, she would give me a whole body massage that is so completely relaxing. Everyone who’s had a massage knows this. I’d find the body stress melting away as my mind relaxes along too, giving the silent suggestion to go to sleep. Sleeping off at this stage will relieve stress further and allow recharging and fill the space vacated by the drained stress with new life enhancing energy. On one instance like this, she happened to be very busy with some cooking in preparation for a community party. Instead of doing a whole body massage, she just did a quick massage on my face, starting with my eye areas. It is here that I discovered that a quick massage on this area alone relaxes me almost as much as a whole body massage does.

A few sessions of self-massage experimentation provided me with the following steps to relieve stress and get relaxed really quickly. I can do this even when I am at work in front of the computer monitor, or even when I am on a bus beside another passsenger. You can actually do this quick massage anywhere, anytime. It never fails to relax me and it peels away layers of stress that oftentimes I was not aware was there.

First, I rub both palms against each other until I generate heat.

Then I gently place the base (the meaty portions) of my palms against my eyeballs, the fingers against my forehead. I keep this position for a few seconds as I let the warmth penetrate through.

Then with a very small up and down motion, I slowly move my hands sideward so that the skin muscles below the eyes and the outer sides of the eyes get stretched a bit. At this point, without intending to, I usually automatically let out what feels like a sigh of relief. A deep in-breath and an exhale that seems to bring out with it all the stress I have. Sometimes I intentionally do the first deep in-breath and the exhale follows and I don’t even need to visuallize stress flowing out of me. It just feels like all the stress within are indeed flowing out. I can repeat this as many times as I want, all the time taking deep breaths. Sometimes I don’t even need to go further to steps 4 to 8 anymore. I feel like this step is the heart of the quick massage routine.

Getting back to the original position in step 2, I then gently stretch the skin muscles below my eyes downward. Keep making deep breaths.

The base of the palms are now on the eyebrows. I stretch the muscles above the eyes upward to relieve stress in that area.

With my forefingers, I push down on the hollows on the inner sides of both eyes right on the base of the nose bridge. Move the fingers upward to stretch this part.

I use the tips of the fingers this time to do steps 4, 3 and 5.

I wrap it up by using my fingers to brush my hair repeatedly. All the time that I’m doing this whole quick massage exercise, I am doing deep breathing.

One website I stumbled on calls steps 1and 2 a ‘palming exercise’. It even elaborated further by suggesting to imagine the heat moving from your palms into the eyes and moving further into the brain. My quick massage routine focuses on physical relaxation with the deep breathing as its key ingredient to relieve stress.. Adding visualization brings it deeper by one level I suppose.

You could tweak this quick massage technique by experimenting with some other movement or twist that works best for you. Some of these things are highly individual. The ones I outlined above works wonderfully for me.

Regular meditation can increase Intelligence. This claim has been proven by science itself time and time again. Yet educators and people in general after having known this fact simply ignore or forget about it. Why? Because of several mistaken ideas about meditation.

Meditators are loners and weird people.

Meditation is a cop out from reality.

Meditation is a waste of time.

It takes a long long time to see benefits of meditation. If it does increase intelligence, what good can it do if you’re already 80 years old?

It takes dogged perseverance and discipline to stick to the regular practice.

It is difficult to focus on ‘nothing’ or to ‘one thing’. The mind always jumps on other things and thus is difficult to get a grip on.

It is difficult to sit upright for long periods of time.

It practice needs to be done in remote places that are far from disturbances.

Meditation through concentration of nothingness does nothing to increase intelligence.

Meditation through mindless repetition of a mantra works to decrease, not increase intelligence. Makes one dumber.

Some of the above listed things are not entirely untrue but, just the same, are factors that keep them away from attempting the practice even just for once.

We read of stories about yogis and meditators who acquired some spectacular abilities but only after ten years, twenty years (or even longer) of regular meditative exercises in some remote sanctuary far from worldly disturbance. Books, newspapers and the internet tell us of practitioners who are able to hold their breath for hours, even days; of yogis who can move things just by concentrating on it; of meditators who can see beyond the obvious e.g. seeing auras, seeing energy forms, seeing colors from sound, etc. These are all true and completely put away all doubts about the spectacular capabilities of meditation.

Increased intelligence is one of the effects of regular meditation. Neuropsychologists have found , through MRI scans, that the brain circuits involved in paying attention of long-term meditators show greater activity, leading them to conclude that meditation can alter the structure of the brain, and thus increase intelligence. Physically, the brain anatomy of meditators are also significantly different in that certain regions are larger than average, particularly the volumes of the thalamus, the areas within the orbital-frontal cortex, the hippocampus, and the inferior temporal gyrus. This is true for all ages; which definitely goes against the previous belief by scientists that physical brain development is complete and stops some time in the teen years. Thus, evidence showing the neurophysiological transformation from low to high level of integration and coherence (meaning broader and more efficient use of brain capacity, or increased intelligence), per EEG results of meditators from various age levels, came as a shock to scientists. Sara Lazar of Harvard Medical School confirms: “Our data suggest that meditation practice can promote cortical plasticity in adults in areas important for cognitive and emotional processing and well-being. These findings are consistent with other studies that demonstrated increased thickness of music areas in the brains of musicians, and visual and motor areas in the brains of jugglers. In other words, the structure of an adult brain can change in response to repeated practice“.

For regular people like us who can not leave our work to go to remote mountain sanctuaries to meditate, and do not have the luxury of spending long hours to do yogic exercises – are we hopeless cases who have no choice but to accept our sorry states? No! Technology, through brainwave entrainment, has given us the tools to serve as aids for us to accomplish this. While it normally takes a lot of effort to keep yourself in a particular state of mind, using brainwave entrainment as a meditation aid eases this to an enormous degree. Brainwave entrainment is a blessing to all who have a desire to enter the field of self improvement through meditation. All you need is a little resolve and perserverance to allot a little of your time every day to meditation. For really busy people, 20 to 40 minutes will do. And while, silence indeed helps a lot in this practice, the use of special sound effects built into the brainwave entrainment files can in some way lessen the effects of external sounds which otherwise would have made you jump out of whatever meditative state you are already in. With regards to postures, any relaxed position, even lying on your back (as long as you can keep yourself from falling asleep), will do unless you have other goals in mind e.g. kundalini awakening, in which case upright sitting postures are necessary.

Brainwave entrainment technology should serve as a tool to ease the pains of meditation. After a time, the meditator will find that the more he meditates, the less he needs to use this technology. Eventually, he can let go of it and go on his way by himself. The thinking prowess that is accessed only at a particular state can eventually be accessed from any normal waking state giving the practitioner the edge that seem unbelievable to those who do not know. Hopefully, by now you have no more doubts about the scientific fact that regular meditation increases intelligence and that brainwave entrainment is one amazing tool to aid you in this exercise.
